Bodily Autonomy & Reproductive Justice
It is a fundamental right for all New Yorkers to have autonomy over their bodies. In addition, Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, Non-binary, & Intersex individuals are often left out of the conversation about reproductive justice. This committee fights for bodily autonomy and reproductive justice for EVERYONE.
“The right to make autonomous decisions over our own bodies is one of the most fundamental to our human rights, especially for female-bodied and LGBTQI individuals whose bodies have been criminalized. Reproductive justice, sex work, queer relationships, gender affirming care & trans friendly therapy are all examples of what we fight for under the rubric of bodily autonomy.”

Highlight: 2023 Your Body, Your Choice: Justice Ride
Activists came together to ride around NYC, stopping at 5 venues, to talk to over 250 people about the importance of passing the Comprehensive Sex Education Bill here in New York State. The bill requires that every K-12 student in public and charter schools receive comprehensive, age-appropriate, medically accurate sex education.
The Comprehensive Sex Education Bill is critical for LGBTQI youth. It helps students understand sexual orientation and gender identity, destigmatizes discussions of sexuality and gender, and promotes respect, understanding, and inclusion. By showing diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and family structures, comprehensive sex ed shows LGBTQI youth that they are not alone and shows their straight, cisgender classmates that they exist.
