Racial Justice

The movement for LGBTQI+ rights has historically been excluded from the fight for the rights of the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) community. This committee focuses on the intersection of race, gender and sexuality. The committee will prioritize programming, advocacy efforts and collaboration with our community partners to amplify the visibility of BIPOC queer and trans individuals.

Being a part of EQNY is important for me as a biracial Queens native and queer woman co-owner of The Bodega Lounge. Our platform serves the often voiceless and unrepresented black, gender-fluid community. My co-owner and I, with our diverse educational backgrounds, life experiences, and careers, are equipped with the motivation, wisdom, awareness, passion, and expertise needed to make a meaningful impact and advance LGBTQ rights in our city, and our community. Joining forces with EQNY who focuses on advancement, is the intentionality alignment we are looking to achieve.
